Prishtina Guide
A Short Guide on How to Move Around Prishtina
The main book fair event is held at Termokiss. It’s a community-run social center open to a range of non-profit and educational activities. For more information, check Termokiss:
Part of the discussions will be held at the autonomous social center “Komuna,” which functions as a space for revolutionary political education, a meeting point for individuals and groups, as well as a base for initiatives based on mutual aid. For more information, check:

Language: People in Prishtina speak Albanian. With the exception of some older people (above 50 years old), most do not understand or speak Serbian. However, you can get by fairly easily with English, as the majority of youth speak it.
Currency: The currency used is the Euro. You can exchange money at exchange points or banks.
ATMs: Prishtina has a considerable number of ATMs. Expect a fee of 5 euros per withdrawal.
Cash or Card: Although cards are now extensively used in supermarkets and stores, most places like cafes, bars, taxis, and buses still use cash.
Roaming and SIM Cards: Roaming in Kosovo is expensive. We suggest buying an e-sim online from official apps. If you prefer a local SIM, we recommend only two existing ones: Ipko and Vala
Overall Prices: Prishtina is relatively cheap compared to other capitals in the Balkans. Below are some reference prices:
– Coffee (espresso): 1 – 1.5 euros
– Beer: around 2 euros
– Burek: 1.2 – 1.5 euros
– Pizza: 5 euros
– Hamburgers: 1.5 – 2 euros
– Water (0.5l): 1 euro (in cafes)
Transport
Walking: Prishtina is a relatively walkable city if you don’t mind the traffic, noise, and dust.
Buses: Buses run from 6 am to midnight, crossing most of the main roads. Depending on the line, there are buses every 15 minutes. You can check the lines on the Trafiku Urban webpage [here](https://trafikurban-pr.com/orari-dhe-linjat). Also, you can download the app “Trafiku Urban” to follow buses in real-time. Bus tickets can only be bought inside the bus through cash payment. A one-way ticket costs 0.50 cents, and an all-day ticket (24hrs) costs 0.80 cents. Between Termokiss and Komuna, you can use bus line no. 4, as it connects both venues perfectly.
Taxis: Taxis are not expensive. The start rate is 2 euros, and it’s approximately 75 cents per km. We highly advise taking an official taxi company, as individual taxis tend to overcharge. You can order a taxi through phone or WhatsApp. If you need help with taxis, just reach out to us at the InfoPoint.

Last Notes
* Smoking inside places is illegal, but often people smoke inside. If you want to smoke, ask beforehand if it is allowed. In Komuna and Termokiss, smoking is prohibited inside.
* Drinking in public is legal as long as there are no shoutings, loud noises, or public drunken behaviour.
* Weed and other drugs are illegal. If you still want to smoke (no judging), please find a less obvious spot (like most of us).
* Police: We don’t expect any issues from the police. However, we expect a higher interest from them for BAB, leading to increased surveillance and police presence around our venues. Although unlikely, you may be stopped and asked to show your ID. We advise you to be aware of your behavior for this exact reason.
